Worst of Days

Beautiful is an understatement,
even on your worst of days.

Please know that you are
more than most will ever be
and that started with the womb
that graciously held you.

The life you were granted
was no mistake.
Even on your worst of days.

The joy you’ve given to someone else
could never be forgotten.
You’re among the brightest stars.

So even on your worst of days,
Beautiful is an understatement
compared to the soul you truly are.

Life 101: Redefining Self

How many times have you felt completely unsure of who you are and what your purpose in life is?

How many times did the opinions of family, friends, etc. persuade you to take another route than what you originally planned?

Better yet, how many times have you talked yourself out of moving forward because you didn’t know if you truly had it in you to be as great as everyone says you are?

If any of these questions apply to you, then welcome to the rest of your life! Life truly is about making it through the hard times (while enjoying the good) in order to come out stronger and with a better idea of who you are and what your purpose is. The first thing you have to do is take a good look at self first and be completely enamored with bettering yourself (mentally, emotionally and physically) in order to stay focused on your goals.

For example, I’m pretty tough on myself when it comes to the decisions I make. I over analyze everything and often second guess myself. My biggest fear is failing, however I know one of my biggest set backs is my habit of procrastination. I put myself in stressful situations at times because I procrastinate and I haven’t mastered a level of self control to where my procrastination isn’t a limiting factor in my success. Thankfully, I’m at a point where I’m learning to be more honest with myself in order to know my strengths and weaknesses so I can cultivate better habits that will ensure my success. It’s not always easy to say okay, I messed up and it’s no ones fault but my own but it’s necessary in order to be at peace with your past mistakes.

Being honest with yourself can make or break you. Do yourself a favor, take a good look in the mirror and ask, “Am I really making progress or am I making excuses for my shortcomings?”

When you can answer this truthfully, moving forward will become easier.
